This image is an illusion illustrating some of the problems in object recognition. The image can alernately appear as a couple eating dinner, or a cat's face. The percept is bistable, meaning you can switch freely between perceiving one or the other. What are the critical cues used to identify objects, and what are the processes the visual system uses to decide what you are seeing? Several ongoing projects in the lab are focused on these questions.

The illusion can be found at ViperLib , a library of illusions and other fun and interesting images related to vision science.
