Prior Knowledge and Learning in Object Perception
My research focuses on the role of prior knowledge and learning in object perception. For instance, how does the low-level processing of a novel object (like the one shown here) change once we have some experience with, or expectations about that object? How does the neural representation of a novel object change as it becomes meaningful and we learn to categorize it? To address these and other questions I am using a combination of training, psychophysical and imaging techniques.
