Parametric Investigation of the Neural Basis of
Face Representation
As a member of Kalanit Grill-Spector's lab, I am investigating the
neural mechanisms underlying perception and representation of faces. Using a fully parameterized space of face silhouettes, we are examining the sensitivity of face-selective regions in the fusiform gyrus. With high-resolution fMRI, we are finding evidence that the fusiform face area (FFA) is not homogeneously responsive to all faces, and attempting to characterize a mapping between the space of human faces and the response patterns in FFA.
