Seda Akbiyik
Seda is a postdoctoral fellow studying the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying high-level visual processing. In the lab, she is working on the structural and functional properties of the lateral stream in the context of dynamic vision. Her past work has combined functional neuroimaging, behavioral methods, and neuromodulation. She is also interested in how different sensory experiences—such as blindness—or brain damage can impact perceptual processing and neural organization. Seda completed her PhD at Harvard University working with Alfonso Caramazza. She holds an MSc in Cognitive Psychology from Koç University and a BA in Psychology from Boğaziçi University. Outside the lab, she enjoys playing the Qanun, hanging out with her cats, and attempting to master rollerblading—preferably not uphill.
