About Scanning at the Lucas Center

Our general operating procedure

(This will contain some information for new lab members about how we scan, and maybe links to informative web pages.)

Coils We Use

Posthead Transmit/Receive (Tx/Rec):

The workhorse surface coil.

Posthead Receive-Only (Rec):

A newer version of posthead, set to receive only, using the scanner transmit coil to send out RF pulses. Installed winter 2004. It's a bit larger than posthead, so has a larger cradle.

fmriCoil:

A head coil, a little small, with a built in mirror/bite bar mount.

RessCoil2000:

Custom-built high-res surface coil.

Protocols We Use (last updated Feb-2004):

Now has the correct posthead (transmit receive coil) in the coil domain and doesn't keep bouncing error messages

kgs-fmric-vanat-040404

Is our vanat protocol: (hires anatomical)
(The previous version got purged by mistake)
It includes:
3pln scan (from which you select the longest axial)
coronal scan (scan the whole brain in coronal sections to measure the
field of view for the sagital hires scan)
3d mprage (hires anatomical with slices 1.1-1.3mm thick-depending on subject
this is a 3d slab, so while it says 128 slices, you get in the end only 124)
inplane 3d (32slices 3x3x3mm for prescribing functional)
T2 spiral (standard 32slice 3x3x3mm functional scan for referencelocalizer scans)
